Performance Solution

Calibrate talent on a single grid.

What is a 9-box talent grid?

A 3×3 calibration matrix that plots every employee on Performance (x-axis) and Potential (y-axis). Each box maps to a recommended action, from fast-tracking Stars to performance-improvement plans for Under-Performers.

WORKSPHR pulls Performance and Potential ratings from your active review cycles, plots every employee with both ratings, and lets HR run calibration meetings with one shared visual.

Calibration without a grid is a guessing game

Most Filipino HR teams still calibrate talent in spreadsheets that nobody trusts. Managers rate generously, ratings drift across departments, and the people who deserve promotion get missed. WORKSPHR puts everyone on one grid, by one rule.

Rating drift
Manager A's "exceeds" ≠ Manager B's "exceeds"
Hidden Stars
High-potential talent buried in averaged scores
No succession view
Who replaces the manager when they leave?
PIPs go unfiled
Under-performers stay invisible until quarterly reviews

How WORKSPHR makes calibration objective.

Built into the Performance module. No add-ons, no external tools. Pulls live data from your review cycles, exports to Excel for offline calibration meetings.

A 3×3 grid with Performance on the horizontal and Potential on the vertical. Nine boxes, nine recommended actions: from Star (fast-track) to Under-Performer (PIP).

  • Stars · High Performance + High Potential
  • Core Players · Medium + Medium
  • Trusted Professionals · High + Low
  • Under-Performers · Low + Low → PIP

How it works.

Step
1

Run a review cycle with both ratings

In Performance, configure the cycle to capture Performance + Potential for every rank-and-file employee. Managers complete reviews; HR locks the cycle.

Step
2

Open the Talent Grid

Navigate to Performance → Talent Grid. Select the cycle. WORKSPHR plots every employee with both ratings into the correct box. Filter by department for focused review.

Step
3

Calibrate, decide, action

Run the leadership calibration meeting from the live grid. Move chips between boxes during debate. Decisions logged. Stars get fast-tracked, Under-Performers go on PIPs.

  • What is a 9-box talent grid?
A 3×3 matrix that plots employees on Performance (x-axis) and Potential (y-axis). Each of the 9 boxes maps to a recommended action — Stars get fast-tracked, Core Players get standard development, Under-Performers go on PIPs.
  • Who can see the 9-box grid in WORKSPHR?
Only Managers and HR Administrators. Employees with Self-Data-Only scoping see a restricted-access message — they cannot view their own placement or peers' placements. This protects calibration confidentiality.
  • Where do the Performance and Potential ratings come from?
From completed performance review cycles. WORKSPHR pulls both ratings per employee per cycle. Employees missing either rating are excluded from the grid until both are recorded.
  • Can I run the 9-box per department?
Yes. Filter by department, location, or job grade before plotting. Useful when calibrating a single BU instead of the whole company. Filters apply live; chip positions recalculate instantly.
  • How does WORKSPHR handle the rating scale?
    1–5 scale: Low = 1.00–2.33, Medium = 2.34–3.67, High = 3.68–5.00. 1–10 scale: Low = 1–4, Medium = 5–7, High = 8–10. Auto-bucketed per your configured scale — no manual mapping.
